Enabling the 21st Century Learner Videos

The Ministry of Education has recently released videos to support the new e-Learning Action Plan.
There are 5 in the set all revolving around different themes.

These are great movies to show at the beginning of your workshop sessions, staff meetings, and QLC's. They are excellent as discussion starters.

Central Northshore Cluster Share

On Tuesday I had the opportunity to attend a cluster sharing afternoon held at Northcote primary on the North Shore. Teachers from all the four schools in the central North cluster group attended to investigate "Virtual Field Trips." Teachers from the junior syndicate at Northcote Primary had participated in one of the LEARNZ field trips. The field trip was about the NZ Kiwi and was completed at the end of 2006. This was a great example of a learning community at work. I am sure all teachers went away with a very clear picture of how they could use Online field trips to enhance the learning of their own students. It is a stepping stone to further investigation of online projects. The review of how you can use virtual field trips with your teachers is available here
For those of you who haven't had a chance to overview what LEARNZ can offer their website is packed with archives of past field trips which you can access for free as long as your school takes out an annual membership.
